The eZfan Reels algorithm has one job: show the right video to the right viewer. For creators, understanding how that decision gets made is the difference between a video that reaches 400 people and one that reaches 40,000.
The Five Ranking Signals
1. Completion Rate
The single most important signal. If 70%+ of viewers watch your Reel to the end, the algorithm treats it as high-quality content and distributes it to more users. Videos with sub-40% completion are deprioritised immediately.
2. Engagement Velocity
How fast does engagement happen after posting? Likes, comments, and shares in the first 30 minutes after publishing are weighted 3× more heavily than engagement that comes 24 hours later. Post when your audience is active.
3. Save Rate
Saves signal long-term value. When viewers save a Reel, it tells the algorithm the content has lasting utility — tutorials, guides, and how-to content consistently have the highest save rates.
4. Profile Clicks
If a viewer watches your Reel and then visits your profile, the algorithm interprets that as strong interest. End your Reels with a soft CTA: 'Visit my profile for the full guide' drives profile clicks and discovery ranking simultaneously.
5. Hashtag Relevance
Use 3–5 highly relevant hashtags rather than 20 generic ones. eZfan uses hashtags to categorise content for the interest-based discovery feed. Over-tagging with irrelevant tags reduces the precision of your audience targeting.
Optimal Reel Length
15–30 second Reels have the highest completion rates and are most likely to be rewatched. 30–60 second Reels have lower completion but generate more saves. 60–90 seconds is only worth it for tutorial content where the viewer needs the full runtime to get value.
The First 24 Hours After Posting

- Share the Reel to your eZfan Stories
- Cross-post to Instagram Reels or TikTok with a 'follow me on eZfan for the full version' CTA
- Pin it to your profile if it performs above your average engagement
